About Andy

Andy (he/him) was born and raised in Saint Louis, Missouri. After seeing a production of Peter Pan, he told his parents, “I want to do that!” On stage, you could fly! Inspired, he began acting classes, sang in choirs, took voice lessons, and directed backyard shows starring friends and siblings. His early dedication led to roles in his high school productions, including The Sound of Music, where he played Kurt von Trapp and later Friedrich and Rolf.

Though initially hesitant to take dance classes, Andy eventually joined his sisters and quickly fell in love with the athleticism and storytelling of movement. This passion brought him to The Muny, where he performed in the children’s ensemble, Muny Kids, and Muny Teens over six years, sharing the stage with Broadway professionals in more than ten productions. In 2005, Andy co-founded Arch City Kids Theatre Troupe (ACTT), launching an annual musical revue to raise funds for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. Over 20 years later, ACTT has raised nearly half a million dollars for the cause.

In high school, Andy participated in every theater and dance production at St. Louis University High School under the mentorship of local legend Joseph Schulte, who encouraged him to pursue directing as well as performing. Andy earned his BFA in Musical Theatre with a minor in Dance from Millikin University, including a semester abroad at Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre in London. One of his proudest accomplishments was directing, choreographing, and producing a fully student-run  renegade production of Hair outdoors on his campus’ Quad.

After graduation, Andy performed regionally across the Midwest and in Chicago before moving to New York City. He frequented prestigious regional theaters, including Geva Theatre, Finger Lakes Music Theatre Festival at Merry-Go-Round Playhouse, and The Gateway Playhouse. In 2016, he joined the international tour of West Side Story, performing nearly 400 shows over 15 months across 20 countries, dancing Jerome Robbins’ original choreography. Upon returning to New York, Andy joined Actors’ Equity Association, signed with Avalon Artists Group, and continued training at Steps on Broadway, participating in their New Voices Choreographer Showcase.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, Andy explored new avenues in the arts, including Roundabout TheatreLab’s directing courses and commercial work, booking campaigns for McDonald’s (the first filmed once production reopened) and Blink Fitness. Post-pandemic, he performed with Pioneer Theatre Company in Hello, Dolly!, A Christmas Story, and the regional premiere of Christmas in Connecticut (for which he also served as Dance Captain). He also Assistant Stage Managed Putting it Together at PTC.

In 2024, Andy became a founding member of Interim Dance Collective, a nonprofit supporting professional dancers in NYC by providing free classes and performance opportunities. Serving as Associate Artistic Director, he produces multiple shows annually, highlighting emerging choreographers and dancers while reconnecting to his passion for collaborative, grassroots artistry.

Andy continues to evolve his career in the arts, actively seeking opportunities to direct, choreograph, and support artists in realizing their creative visions.
